This sickens me

April 29th, 2008 (06:39 pm)

I watched a movie today called Murder Unveiled, because Vik Sahay from Chuck is in it. When I bought it, I didn't realize it was based on a true story.

A young girl's uncle and mother have been accused of arranging her murder in India from Canada. They have been charged in India. So far the RCMP are dragging their feet in the face of a great deal of evidence against them. This does not make me proud to be a Canadian.

Are you familiar with the Albert Walker Story? When they found him and his daughter, the RCMP told the girl's mother by saying "We found your daughter. Congratulations, you're a Grandma."

The RCMP have... issues.

That is disgusting.

The only RCMP officer I've known is a relative through marriage, and he's a racist. I hope these are not the norm. But seeing the Fifth Estate documentary that comes with the movie, I fear it is. And I wonder how much justice Jassi would be getting if she were white instead of South Asian.

Wait, I'm related to an RCMP officer?

Sort of. I think he's retired.

Did you meet my niece Nancy? She graduated this past weekend from the academy.

Colin - the Trews

That's cool. There's probably more good than bad, and I'm sure she's one of the good ones.
