Nice day - no complaints (this time)
I took my niece to the Hobbystar comic show today. Her dad wanted to show his portfolio to the artists, she wanted to go, and I took her. She's such a neat kid. Little red-haired girl who loves Willow. Where would she get that?
Anyway, we looked at the toys (she talked me into a cap with a Buffy logo - well, didn't take much persuasion) and talked to a few artists.
Now, the only artist I knew (I'm more a knowledgeable with writers) was Silver Age legend Carmine Infantino. I expected him to be swamped with fans. Nope. They were all pestering the new kids.
No lineup. Nada. So I asked if I could take his picture. He quite happily asked us to be in it.
I got my picture taken with the man who created the Barry Allen Flash (possibly the one you know, if you're my age.) How very cool is that?
We met my friend Andrew, had lunch with him and found out our waitress is a huge Buffy fan (she showed me her Joss Whedon Fan Club membership card).
Tonight I went with my husband and some of his family to the Queen's Birthday Dinner at the Danish Lutheran church. Can't say the singing was all that exciting (I didn't know what the words, meant, then again the only one at the table who did was my mother-in-law) but the food was good and so was the company. Smoked salmon open faced sandwich, roast beef, apple dessert - yep, that was a good dinner.
Here's a photo from the show.

Around Season Five I went out to lunch with a friend here at a local Seattle area restaurant and we were, of course, talking BtVS and our waiter caught us at it. He double-checked that it was really what we were discussing and then mentioned that he'd been on the show! Sure enough, he was one of the swimmers from the episode "Go Fish"!! There's a really good shot of him getting locked in the cage in the library. Pretty wild, though.
